Hallo! We meet again at the very late hours of Monday night, technically Tuesday…Anyway, I watched the Oscars last night, and ehhhh I’m a little disappointed. It really felt like Martin Scorsese and Killers of the Flower Moon were totally shut out. I honestly thought Lily Gladstone was going to win best actress. I loved Emma Stone’s performance in Poor Things as well, but my theory is that the Academy figured it was okay since Gladstone won the Golden Globe. Next year I should make an Oscar’s quiz with a column of who do you want to win vs who do you think will win? Moving on, I know Ryan Gosling being nominated and not Greta Gerwig or Margot Robbie is controversial, but let’s just enjoy this performance for what it is:
Exciting news of who’s going to join Only Murders in the Building for season 4!
Since when did cereal qualify as a snack??? New Jersey, I’m disappointed in you. At least you’re unique? Here’s a map of favorite snacks across the U.S.
Is anyone an OG BBC Pride and Prejudice fan? It’s a very accurate representation of the book and where Colin Firth became a British household name. There’s a famous scene where he’s swimming in the lake, and the shirt he wore (more like a blouse) went on sale for $25,000! A little creepy, but that shirt also represents an important moment in Austen fan history.
Are you thinking of traveling but not wanting to go somewhere there’s a million tourists? The Thrillist put together a great list of “destination dupes”, which I thought was so clever. We have all these product dupes, why not a travel destination dupe? Especially if you’ve already been to all the major cities, it could be fun to go somewhere that’s a little off the beaten path.
I love a cute bathroom. We all spend a good amount of time in there, so I think it’s worth having it be a pleasant place. This vibe reminds me of clothing stores in the 80s, and I love the hits of color here and there. I also want to put a bunch of post-its with fun messages and fit them into the tiles next to the bathroom mirror below haha
This looks like a really interesting film (via Kottke). Have you ever heard of the term “social capital”? It was popularized by Robert Putnam, a Harvard professor who was best known for his book Bowling Alone.
