Hey folks, Happy Monday :) This week felt a little long, no? Which is ironic because February is the shortest month. And I almost leaped over Leap Day ha ha ha. K that’s enough of that. Sorry for the late entry today. I know consistency is not always my strong suit, but here’s to trying 🥂 Heads up: I’m going to talk a lot about Oscars stuff because it’s coming up this Sunday, and I’m EXCITED!
Ok, this is where all the Best Picture Oscar contenders are streaming right now:
Poor Things will be available on Hulu (March 7, cutting it close)
Oppenheimer is on Peacock
Barbie is on HBO Max
Maestro is on Netflix
Killers of the Flower Moon is on Apple TV+
American Fiction, maybe Prime but no streaming date yet
The Holdovers is on Peacock
Anatomy of a Fall, got to buy or rent on Apple or Prime
The Zone of Interest, got to buy or rent on Apple or Prime
Past Lives is on Kanopy (need a valid library card)
My goal is to watch at least 6 of the 10! I’m planning on watching Poor Things, Oppenheimer, and Past Lives this week. Sorry, I’m not going to watch things I have to pay extra for lolSpeaking of actors, fun article on why all the internet’s current boyfriends are Irish lol. I imagine it has something to do with their humility and seemingly “normalness” compared to that of American stars who seem more outspoken, grandiose, and/or have very public lives. Whatever the reason, yay actors from small countries especially when they have the best accent!
TV–guys, please do me a favor and watch Shogun on Hulu. I want to discuss it with people! My favorite part of the show is any scene with Hiroyuki Sanada aka swordsmaster aka boss man from movies like The Last Samurai, Rush Hour 3, and Bullet Train to name a few. Also, I’m loving Anna Sawai who was also in Pachinko. It’s also pretty awesome to see a TV show that’s centered around non-Americans. Getting other perspectives through stellar storytelling is always a cool and fun thing.
Taking a hard left turn and sharing a great alternative recipe to shakshuka. It’s very similar but takes half the time! That’s none other than Smitten Kitchen’s eggs in purgatory puttanesca style. With some toasted sourdough bread, YUM it’s a great brunch meal for 2-3 people! Here’s what it looked like for us the other day:
Cozy home time. This apartment is in Barcelona and only 600 square feet. We lived in a 670 sq ft apartment two years ago, and let me tell you…it felt very different from this lol but just goes to show you don’t need a lot of space to have a beautiful, cozy, and inviting home.
Would you get a foldable phone? I’m not mad at it.
The “Switzerland of America” is in Pennsylvania?! Let’s gooooo.
The chemical difference between hot and cold brew coffee is very interesting! It’s always fun to know these little science tidbits about the drink I love, especially as someone who was terrrrrible at chemistry.
Okay friends, that’s it for this week! I’m hoping March showers bring April flowers aka that spring isn’t faking it and arriving earlier than normal. Although, I guess I don’t want global warming to get worse. I just want warmer weather to be here 😫 Have a great rest of your week :)
I saw my first cherry blossoms this week!! Spring is in the air!! Also loving the logo :)
