Hi friends! I know I shared last week that I have an announcement (concerning the newsletter) coming up, and I’ll be ready to share more details in a week or two. I didn’t forget! I’m also sharing to hold myself accountable 😜 I’m currently watching Twilight as I write this entry, and I want so badly to make a mockumentary version of this like The Office. All the scenes where the vampires are vampiring are just too funny. I guess What We Do in the Shadows is that show already…but anyway, let’s get to this week’s list before Edward loses it.
Brian Eno is an electronic music pioneer (found via Kottke), and, while I’m not the biggest electronic music fan, I love this turntable he designed. It’s only 20,000 pounds or roughly 25K lol so prettyyyy
Since we’re talking about things that glow, and since this turntable is a weeee bit unaffordable, how about glow in the dark plants? They are genetically engineered, so not completely natural per se, but it starts at a base cost of $29 woohoo! It seems the bioluminescence was made possible from mushroom genes. I didn’t realize mushrooms also had genes haha I’m now going to make a line of glow in the dark denim called mushroom jeans. Or better yet, Fun Guy Jeans. Get it?????
I love this IG account dedicated to bus seat patterns called @idontgiveaseat. I know they’re kind of ugly, but they’re also kind of amazing.
Highly, beautifully, intricately decorated cakes and desserts will never get old for me. Presto is not a bakery as much as it is a design studio…for cakes and chocolates. Ieroo would probably want to be this founder’s best friend.
These would also make gorgeous objects or candles. I don’t really like cake, so I would prefer the collectible version of this please. Thank you.
Ieroo and I went to Kiri Udon the other night, and they always play Japanese music in the restaurant. It got me thinking of Hikaru Utada, which was my first foray into J-pop (introduced to me through my cousin who went to international school with her in Japan). She’s had SO many hits. Yall might remember her from her debut album hit song, Automatic.
OR, you might remember her from the Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango) J-drama soundtrack with the song, Flavor of Life. It’s on Netflix and Viki, and almost 20 years old 😱
This is such a stroll through memory lane for me–I was hooked on Utada for years.
I really appreciate the time @lifeasraven took to create this doable list for a day off. I have the tendency to “rot,” so structured but restful schedules like this are *chef’s kiss.*
And that’s all I got this week :) Hope you have a good one!
announcement !!?
