Hi friends! So we’re kind of at the halfway mark of the year 😮 I hope you’ve all been staying safe with the smoky atmosphere we’ve been having. Summer is almost here, woot woot <3 I’ll be taking a (forced, jk) retreat soon where I can’t be on my phone as per my husband’s request, and I’m sure it’ll be good for me and us. I guess I’ll have to bring a good ole notebook and pen and write (wow, so 1994) and a book to read and actually engage with the world and people around me instead of filling a bunch of my time with my phone. I do have a bit of a problem. Who am I kidding, I have a problem haha hi my name is Kat and I am addicted to filling time with screens. I’ll let you know how this mini-detox goes in a few weeks. Until then, here’s this week’s list!
This vlog is so pleasant, I just had to share :) I really enjoy Fran’s content. She’s an illustrator who lives in Brooklyn and shares content about her art and life. It’s so peaceful and makes me want to go out and get some art supplies and do laundry in a laundromat while listening to music and walking around. Just lovely!
I love NewJeans. I’m literally double the age of most of the gals in this group, but whateva I’ll jam out to their music anytime! Came across this jazzed up version of all the NewJeans songs–this would be a great playlist to listen to while you’re cleaning up the apartment or reading or writing or something. Give it a listen :)
This is why I don’t set goals!!! Jk, goals are great. Goals help set a course in action and break down the steps that we need to take to get closer to a something we want or hope to accomplish. I’m all for a goal, but I’ve found that I am thoroughly and most unequivocally a process/journey person. I’ve always enjoyed the process more than the result. I enjoy learning but not the test I have to take to say that I’m now qualified in a specific area of learning. I just want to learn for the sake of learning. I want to plan something for the fun of planning. Even when I was in college, I always felt like getting ready with your friends to go out for a night was way more enjoyable than the actual part when you went out. I’m going on a bit of a tangent now, but I hope that I can grow in a more holistic and wise understanding of the importance of both process and goals!
These 50 ideas changed this writer’s life, and while I’m not sure all of these are true there’s a lot of interesting ones here nonetheless! This is one that I see time and time again:
34. Horseshoe Theory: Extreme opposites tend to look the same. For example, a far-right movement and a far-left movement can be equally violent or desire a similar outcome. People on both sides are more similar to each other than they are to people in the center.
I think I’ve shared something like this before, but I love this embroider food and tableware onto the tablecloth situation here. I will say, it seems a bit egregious to charge hundreds of dollar dollar bills for these. I’m going to try and embroider one myself, but I give myself a week before I say “Ok, there’s a reason these are hundreds of dollar dollar bills”:
What’s next? Embroidering outlines of shirts, pants, dresses, and cardigans on our clothes? Painting tea cups on tea cups? Totes on totes? Drawing chairs on chairs? You heard it here first.
One last embroidered, fun little table linen situation—nailpolished hand cocktail napkins:
I have a lot of YouTube videos today, but that’s the roll of the dice I suppose! Curious how diners got that diner-look? I enjoyed this Architectural Digest video on the history, design, and evolution of diners, especially as a resident within the birthplace state of this American staple :)
Another vlogger whose content I really enjoy has a channel called Leah’s Fieldnotes. She underwent a 30-day decluttering of her home, and I was INSPIRED. The method goes as such: on day 1 you get rid of 1 item, day 2 - 2 items, day 3 - 3 items, and so on and so forth. By the end of the month, you’ll have gotten rid of 465 items 😱 You don’t have to go in order, if you want to jump to day 30 from the start GO FOR IT. I’m doing this this month. Does anyone want to join me? I will most likely share my process throughout the month, so stay tuned…!?
My last share for this week will be a YouTube playlist. I turned it on after my usual morning routine to start my work day, and it was the perfect note of upbeat I need to get me going on a Monday morn. Hope it does the same for you :)
Okay folks. That’s it for now. Have a great Monday <3
the embroidered table cloth is so heckin’ pretty why is it $500+ 🥹🥹
Have you read Marie Kondo's book?!
