I’m late again friends :) My Monday moods are extremely Monday-ey if that makes any sense, but better later than never? I went to a Tennis concert Monday night, which was delayed about a year and half due to the pandemic! Another instance where better late than never holds true. The sun is setting so much earlier than before, and we’re clearly in full fall m00d~* now that it’s NOVEMBER! Hope you’re still enjoying these hours of sunlight friends, let’s get to this week’s list:
Perfectly Imperfect–a wonderful name and a wonderful newsletter. I loved the list that chef Carla Lalli Music put together for this week. Every week features a different person with their own recommendations in books, travel, food, anything really–and you know I love lists of things. Check it out! My favorite of last week was this donabe rice cooker, which probably makes the experience of cooking seem so much kewler but also makes your food automatically yummy
Ten things that Tavi Gevinson finds comfort in from the NYTimes. Y’all know I like Tavi. It’s also another list. What is it with me and lists?? I guess it’s just the idea of compilations gets me so excited! But that’s the last list within the list I promise.
Why actors love Wes Anderson I MEAN WHO WOULDN’T via the NYTimes. If there was a way I could be involved in the process of making his films, even if it’s just like the person who needs to fetch water for everyone I am there.
I was very surprised to come across this essay in The Atlantic. It’s a long article for sure, but I found that there were a lot of nuanced and thoughtful points that were made by writer Peter Wehner. I also rarely see writers that are Christian in major publications, but that could just be the headlines I’m drawn to haha regardless, interesting article if you have a good 20-25 minutes to take it all in!
I’m sure many of you recognize this New Yorker cover, which is a great depiction of pandemic life–esp. for city dwellers:
Adrian Tomine, who I’ve talked about before, is an illustrator/cartoonist/graphic novelist/many other things, and he talks about the process of making this cover! I loved every detail of it and seeing the process behind an iconic image.
The official trailer for House of Gucci is hereeeee–doesn’t look that great lol but definitely looks entertaining. You think Gucci lent them clothes for this movie?
Ok, I know this idea might not be appealing to anyone, but for any of yall green thumbs OR people who love mushrooms… here’s a great gift idea! You can grow your own mushrooms! I know it looks a little gross… but mushrooms do add a nice earthiness to dishes, wouldn’t you say? How cool would it be to be growing one of these and then just plucking a few for your stir fry or pasta?
OMG I LIED–this is the last newsletter I’m sharing today. It’s called Modern Different and written by Juris. He loves recommending products that he enjoys, and his newsletter consists of just that! He also has guest picks or products that are curated by his friends. Not that we necessarily need more stuff in our life, but I do like me some thoughtfully curated items that have proven their use over time:
And that’s it for this week–the next few days will fly by and before you know it it’ll be Monday again! I want to end today’s entry with some Irish slang I want to start using now because of the best show ever Derry Girls–“Happy days,” meaning awesome or great. So have some happy days happy days–I don’t think it works there but you know what I mean right? <3
Love the perfectly imperfect idea & the modern different blog!! Wowow
